About the Logo

In preparation for its centennial year, the City of New Port Richey announced a logo design contest in April of 2023, inviting artists to submit designs that visually captured the distinct character of New Port Richey.

These submissions were reviewed by members of the Centennial Steering Committee, comprised of Chair David Schrader, Vice-Chair Judy DeBella Thomas, and members Angel Cook, Mayor Chopper Davis, Heather Fiorentino, Bob Langford, and Bonnie Martin. Together, the group selected the winning logo, which was designed by artist Gumbo Rein, a self-proclaimed “traveling creative spirit” who seeks meaningful ways of contributing art to cities and towns throughout America.

“There's something about the small-town vibe of New Port Richey that really resonates,” said Rein, who provided comment via email. “It has some unique heritage assets that the community has done a wonderful job celebrating through adaptive reuse.”

The official logo pays homage to some of New Port Richey's most iconic landmarks, including the Hacienda Hotel, the Richey Suncoast Theater, and the Pasco Building (which is now home to Rose’s Bistro Off Main). Symbolizing the city's defining characteristic as a waterfront community, the logo also features the Pithlachascotee River prominently in its foreground.
